Honoring Our Veterans: Our Heartfelt Tributes - Chief Luther Fehr

Your Story Is Worth Protecting Banner

As we continue to honor our Veterans during the month of November, our next post is from Lauren Cosgrove, assistant account manager.  She shares a wonderful personal story about her Great Grandfather, Chief Luther Fehr.

Chief Luther Fehr 1919-2010 (My Great-Grandfather)

Luther was born on August 21st, 1919, in Nazareth, PA. He served admirably during World War ll in the US Navy as a Chief Aviation Machinist in the South Pacific. He was responsible for installing, maintaining, and servicing all types of Navy aircraft. After his time of service, he returned to Nazareth and married the love of his life, Gladys. Together they raised 7 children. His love of tinkering and fixing things continued well after his time in the Navy as he started his own woodworking shop in a barn on their farmhouse property. He was the ultimate family man. He and Gladys were married for 49 years at the time of her death in 2003 and when he passed away in 2010 at the age of 90, he was survived by 6 of his children (1 predeceased him) 19 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He always spoke proudly about his time in the Navy and I, as his great granddaughter and the rest of our large family are tremendously proud of what he accomplished during his years of service and thank him for his sacrifice for our country.

Thank you, Chief Fehr,  and to all who have served our country.
