Kathryn Rickert Chickilly, Marine Corps – WWII
In 1943, Kathryn Rickert Chickilly spent 6 weeks at Marine boot camp in Hunter College, New York, then 3 months as a parachute rigger. From 1943 to 1945, she was stationed at Cherry Point, North Carolina where she packed and maintained parachutes for the pilots. Kathryn married Robert Chickilly in 1944 and later had 3 children: Bobby, Lynda and Laurie. She will turn 100 years old on November 16th.
